Common Rodents in the UAE
Roof Rat (Black Rat)
Excellent climbers, common in the UAE. They enter buildings through roof access points, AC ducts and upper floor gaps. Often nest in ceilings and wall voids.
Norway Rat (Brown Rat)
Larger, ground-dwelling. Enters buildings at ground level through drains, gaps in doors and foundation cracks. Common around restaurants, warehouses and buildings near garbage areas.
House Mouse
Small, breeds extremely quickly. Squeezes through gaps as small as 6mm. Common in villas, apartments, kitchens and storage areas.

Why DIY rat poison usually fails
Off-the-shelf poisons often kill one or two rats and drive the rest into hiding — the colony survives and comes back. Worse, poisoned rats often die inside walls and ceilings, creating terrible odour problems. Professional rodent control targets the source and blocks re-entry points.
